Last seen fending off insane locals in The Crazies, Radha Mitchell is switching to crime thriller territory for a future film, as she’s joined the cast of The Frozen Ground.
The story, which is based on a real-life incident, finds a police officer (Nicolas Cage) hunting a serial killer (John Cusack) across the chilly Alaskan wilderness. He gets some help on that front from the one woman (Vanessa Hudgens) who was able to escape the maniac’s clutches.
Mitchell will be playing Cage’s wife in the movie, which writer/director Scott Walker is already busy shooting.
Once she’s done with Ground, she’ll hop back to Los Angeles to star in Tara Subkoff’s Playdate alongside Natasha Lyonne. There are few details available about the indie, but we do know it’ll kick off filming later this month.
And those are just two of Mitchell’s current jobs – she’s been working on DJ Caruso’s pic The Goats and has Gus, Evidence, Big Sur and horror action sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D all clanking their way through post-production.
