Rachel Weisz In Talks For Bourne Legacy

Anything James Franco, Jeremy Renner and Johnny Depp can do, Rachel Weisz can do better. In this case, we mean being in demand for lots of high profile movie roles. And it’s funny that Renner should be on the list, since Weisz may end up co-starring with him in The Bourne Legacy.

According to Deadline, the Lovely Bones star is now knee deep in talks to join Tony Gilroy’s Bourne spin-off at Universal, indicating a possible return to her earlier Mummy-featuring action days, albeit in a lean, mean spy thriller that probably won’t feature a lot of Arnold Vosloo screaming at CG effects.

If she takes the role, Weisz would star with Renner, who is playing a lethal operative from a government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone outfit that spawned Jason Bourne. There are no details yet on what she’d be up to, but it might be something along the lines of Joan Allen’s icy boss Pamela Landy.

However, there’s a potential scheduling clash rearing its head here (told you she was popular). Just last week we brought word that she was also negotiating to play bad witch Evanora in Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful for Disney alongside James Franco and Mila Kunis. You can bet that her agents and the two studios are now hastily trying to figure out whether she can do both, since the shooting dates for the movies might be prohibitively close.

If she has to choose one or the other, which would you prefer she goes for? A Bourne spin-off or an Oz prequel? You know where to leave your opinions…
