Rachel Weisz On For A 360

When we last checked in on 360, we noted that the project felt like “an indie drama version of a superhero team-up”, withThe Constant Gardener’s Fernando Meirelles calling the shots and The Queen’s Peter Morgan writing the script. It makes sense, then, that the director has cast an acting goddess who often seeks out more challenging parts in one of the lead roles: Rachel Weisz.

Weisz worked on **Gardener **with Meirelles, and won an Oscar for her efforts, so you can understand why they’d be interested in getting the team back together.

And 360 certainly offers an enticing, challenging prospect: Morgan has based the script on the 1900 play Reigen, which itself inspired the French film La Ronde and a host of other adaptations. The original theatrical work follows characters who sleep with one another, and their various other sexual partners, with short scenes jumping between various pairings before the promiscuity arrives full circle (we’d put “comes full circle", but some of you would just be giggling unstoppably by now). As for what use the new film will make of it (either as a direct adaptation or just an influence)? That remains to be seen.

While Austrian TV channel ORF and BBC Films have agreed to stump up the production funds, there’s no word on any other cast or an actual start date yet.
