It's exciting to learn that Sam Raimi is ready to dive back into horror directing, even if it is for a service that still seems a little mysterious. But he has The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahanready to star in 50 States Of Fright.

The anthology series is being made for mobile short-form movie/TV app Quibi, which has been hoovering up talent at a rate to rival the likes of Disney+ and Amazon. 50 States Of Fright will tackle urban legends from across the US – Raimi (and brother Ivan) have co-written The Golden Arm, which will also star Travis Fimmel and John Marshall Jones and adapts a legend from Michigan.

Christina Ricci, Spider-Man: Homecoming's Jacob Batalon, Ming-Na Wen, Taissa Farmiga, Asa Butterfield and Ron Livingston are all aboard to star in episodes of the series, which will be parceled out in short chunks by the app due to launch next year. The likes of Steven Spielberg, Jason Blum, Antoine Fuqua and Guillermo del Toro are all developing work for the platform.
