Rabbit Hole Trailer Is Here

Already gathering small swirls of Oscar buzz around it, the latest film from John Cameron Mitchell, Rabbit Hole, features Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhart, Dianne Wiest and a whole bucket load of emotion. The trailer is now available over at Apple.

Adapted from David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer- and Tony-nabbing play (a solid foundation for a drama if ever there was one) by the playwright himself, Rabbit Hole follows Becca (Kidman) and Howie (Eckhart) Corbett, a couple with a happy life. But then their joy is shattered when their young son Danny is killed in a car accident.

As everything around them comes crashing down, Becca and Howie adopt very different situations for coping – Becca withdraws inside herself, but also builds an odd relationship with Jason (Miles Teller), the teenager who was driving the car that hit her son. Howie, meanwhile, dives into nostalgia, trying to get things back the way they were.

From all appearances, it’s a full on, awards-consideration drama with grown-up themes and big performances. It’s also something of a departure from Mitchell’s previous work (Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Shortbus), though he’s always shown a keen eye for human emotion and he can also bring the funny, which is helpful with the play's more comic moments.
