A Quiet Place was the sleeper horror hit of 2018, earning $340 million against a reported $17 million budget. It was also critically acclaimed, with an immediately engaging premise — if you make noise, some sound-aliens will kill you — that left things thrilling open for more stories. Happily for everyone, more stories are coming, and now the first teaser for A Quiet Place: Part II has arrived.
In keeping with the current marketing trend, this is only a trailer for a trailer, with the full trailer promised to arrive on New Year’s Day. But it still offers a tantalising (and appropriately quiet) first look at the sequel: Emily Blunt, reprising her role as Evelyn Abbott, walking barefoot through a forest, with her children Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe), and apparently stepping into a larger, noisier world.
Not much is known about the new film, except that it promises to expand on the soundless world and explore how the extraterrestrial rotters who set all this off are getting on now their achilles heel has been found. John Krasinski is again writing and directing, with Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou newcomers to the cast. The film arrives in cinemas on 20 March, 2020, but we have the promise of a full trailer on 1 January to look forward to before then.
