Denzel Washington might be the cinematic inheritor of the Equalizer title from Edward Woodward, but if all goes to plan, it'll be Queen Latifah who helps people with serious problems on the small screen.
Latifah is on to star in and co-produce a new series that will reboot the 1980s series that found Woodward as a retired intelligence operative who reinvented himself as a crusading warrior for hire, aiding those with nowhere else to turn.
CBS, an American network that has yet to find a concept it didn't want to reboot, has ordered at least a pilot for the show, which will be run by Castle duo Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller. If the show does move beyond the pilot, it'll join the likes of Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver and Magnum PI, which have all been through the re-work machine and emerged in new forms.
Talking of telly, Latifah will next be seen as Ursula in a live musical version of The Little Mermaid, due to hit Stateside screens this week. Looks like she'll be helping more poor unfortunate souls in the future...
