Quarantine 2 Gets Writer & Director

Just like its Spanish counterpart / source [.Rec], Quarantine is getting the sequel treatment. The man for the job? John Pogue, writer of** The Fugitive**'s sequel US Marshals, Dark Castle's Ghost Ship, and all the Skulls films.

Pogue shot second unit on Skulls 1, but Quarantine 2 will be his official directorial debut. Curiously, his script doesn't follow [.Rec 2]'s lead, picking up exactly at the end of the first instalment, but is said by Shock Til You Drop to move the action out of the plague-ridden block of flats with the mad thing in the attic, and into an airport. Studio Screen Gems invited pitches from all over Hollywood, and Pogue's was The One.

So it's a sequel to the remake, rather than a remake of the sequel. Do you see? Its destiny is currently Kim's Video Dungeon, but a theatrical release is apparently not out of the question.
