Push didn't stay around long, so may easily have passed you by. But if you did manage to catch it, or you've picked up the DVD you'll perhaps have been quietly impressed by Paul McGuigan's tale of street-level telekinetic superheroics in Hong Kong. Perhaps.
It was clearly set up to start a franchise, although no sequel materialised. But further adventures may now be on the cards for the pushers and the sniffers and the stitchers and the rest (originally headed up by Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning) in the form of a TV series.
The script will be by David Hayter, who wrote Watchmen, X-Men and its first sequel, and the official line from the press release is that "the concept behind the* *Push feature film offers a broad and rich canvas on which to extend the storyline and characters,” with the project representing "the perfect vehicle to initiate Summit’s plans of producing programming for the global television marketplace."
All fine and dandy, although it's very early days. There's no actual home for the show as yet (cable? network?) and there's no word on what the plan is to significantly differentiate Push from the superficially very similar Heroes. Still, they could make this series stand out by creating a coherent plot line and actual character motivation we suppose (oh burn!).
