The Punisher Cast

Move over Dolph Lundgren, there's a new Punisher in town and his identity has at long last been revealed. With rumours circulating for months and speculation carried out ad nauseum, the new incarnation of Marvel's skull-motifed vigilante has been named as Dreamcatcher and Deep Blue Sea star, Thomas Jane. All set to clean up the streets with an impressive array of anti-personnel weapons, Jane will take on the mantle of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, a man who takes a ruthlessly efficient approach to crime prevention after his wife and daughter are wiped out by the underworld. Previously brought to life by strapping Swede, Lundgren, in an appalling 1989 incarnation, the property seems to have recovered sufficiently in the last decade to bear another attempt. Truth be told we're not entirely convinced that Jane has the necessary gritty psychosis to truly do justice to the famous thug-buster, but then again, who does? We're willing to give Jane the benefit of the doubt though and, If all goes according to plan and the leap from script to screen goes smoothly, this is one that could turn out rather special.
