Well, it looks like Gerard Butler's career trajectory has finally taken him to proper stardom. How do we assess this? Why, by the fact that he's launched his own production company, Evil Twins, with his longtime manager Alan Siegel, and has a film called Law Abiding Citizen lined up to be the first one out of the gate.
Written by Equilibrium's Kurt Wimmer (let's all try to pretend that Ultraviolet didn't happen) the story is set to star Butler as an assistant DA who "finds himself at the centre of a vigilante plot hatched by a traumatised victim of the legal system". Oooh, exciting. It's been a while since we had a legal thriller like that, by the sounds of it. Shooting's due to begin in the summer, but there's no word yet on other cast or a director.
Evil Twins have also lined up two further films, one called Hanging Tale and the other an adaptation of Frank McCourt's Teacher Man. Those jonesing for a Gerry fix (now why does that sound slightly obscene?) in the meantime can see him in the upcoming Nim's Island, or Guy Ritchie's next film, RocknRolla, or in Game, from those crazy Crank guys. He's about to start shooting The Ugly Truth, with rom-com starlet of the moment Katherine Heigl. That's one busy Butler.
