After the twin critical and box office disappointments of Your Highness and (to a lesser degree, at least in terms of monetary return) The Sitter, David Gordon Green has headed back towards his indie roots for a remake of quirky Icelandic comedy Either Way. So what happens when Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch are two road workers figuring out life, their troubled friendship and their respective love lives? Find out in the teaser trailer for **Prince Avalanche **over at Apple.
Rudd is Alvin, a stern, thoughtful type in the summer of 1988. He’s taken a job repainting road signs in a picturesque chunk of Texas. Along for the job is Lance (Hirsch), his girlfriend’s brother. Initially, the pair seems too different to get along: Alvin is happy in glorious isolation, planning to enjoy all that nature has to offer while contemplating his relationship with Madison, while Lance is bored and unfulfilled, seemingly missing city life.
Green looks to be on firm ground here with a brewing bromance between the pair and some nice work from both leading men. Here’s hoping he enjoys more success this time around. Prince Avalanche arrives in US cinemas (and VOD) on August 9, but there’s no word on a UK release just yet.
