Predestination For Ethan Hawke

Some people liked Daybreakers, and some people didn't. Clearly Ethan Hawke had a good time with it though, since he's just signed on to make a second film with the Spierig Brothers. It's a case of Predestination, based on Robert Heinlein's 1958 short story All You Zombies.

Nothing to do with lumbering undead (the title is lifted from a quote towards the end of the story), Heinlein's tale is a mind-boggling catalogue of time travel paradoxes. We can't tell you quite how mad it is without spoiling it, but suffice to say that a sex-change is quite important to the plot.

It seems like that potentially tricky element may have been dropped for the film, however, which is being described as a sci-fi action thriller. The synopses coming through involve Hawke as a "temporal agent" on his final job, recruiting his younger self to finally catch "the one criminal that has always eluded him". We could make some pretty confident guesses about who that criminal might turn out to be. Give us your own ideas in the comments below.

"This is one of our favourite short stories," say Michael and Peter Spierig, apparently together. "It's truly original, and unlike anything you've ever read before. It's the mother of all time paradox tales."

Shooting is due to start in Australia at the beginning of next year.
