The Predator Trailer Gives a More Shane Black Look at the Sequel

Teaming the Predator (known for its sharp aim and lethal weapons) up with Shane Black (known for his sharp dialogue and Lethal Weapon) is the stuff that dreams are made of — and yet, the first trailer for Black’s new film The Predator didn’t show off much of the writer-director’s distinctive voice.

Thankfully the new Red Band trailer for his sequel to the Arnold Schwartzenegger sci-fi action classic makes up for that — this time around there are shit-talking squaddies, glimpses of snappy action set-pieces, and some neat unexpected twists courtesy of the ‘ultimate Predators’. It’s a whole lot of fun, and a promising indicator of the tone Black is going for.

This time around the intergalactic beasties are heading to suburbia after a young boy — Room’s Jacob Tremblay — accidentally triggers a signal bringing them to Earth. It’s up to a crew of soldiers to defeat the ugly mothers — who have been upgrading themselves with fancy new abilities since their last foray to our fair planet. The Predator should be a late-Summer pre-Autumn treat, stalking into UK cinemas on 14 September.
