The second season may have had more issues than the first, and it may not get the ratings of network stablemate The Walking Dead, but Preacher clearly remains popular enough that its Stateside home AMC is renewing it. News of a third season was broken by co-executive producer Seth Rogen via Twitter.
Preacher, which stars Dominic Cooper as troubled man of God Jesse Custer, who has merged with an incredibly powerful being, finds him on a mission to locate the wayward deity. He'll get help – and occasional hinderance – from best friends Tulip (Ruth Negga), an assassin who is also his on-again, off-again true love and hard-living vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun).
Season 2 saw the trio encounter the forces of The Grail, determined to secure the line of Jesus and keep the faith, though one of their more powerful members has started to see that maybe Jesse with the Voice Of God that the entity provides could be a potential new messiah. The season was a little patchy and very dour in places, but perhaps Season 3 offers some new chances to find the fun again. It'll be back on the air (and carried once again weekly by Amazon in the UK) next year.
