Hallelujah! “It feels like we’re working on a different show,” says Cooper, speaking from the set. “We’re playing the same characters, but the tone has changed dramatically.” With Season 1 ending, quite literally, with a bang, Season 2 shifts gears, introducing new characters, a deeper backstory and more black comedy, as the key trio of Jesse Custer (Cooper), Tulip O’Hare (Negga) and Cassidy (Gilgun) embark on a road trip to find God, whereabouts unknown.
“I think the tone has changed,” agrees Gilgun. “It's had to. Initially it was a stationary show where we needed people who hadn't read the comics to invest into these characters. Now that we are on the move, it is tonally going to feel like a change.”
