After pivoting away from sci-fi following Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, director Rupert Wyatt is leaping back in with Captive State, which follows the aftermath of Earth's occupation by alien forces. A new teaser for the movie has arrived online...

The film, co-written with Erica Beeney, is set nearly a decade after an extraterrestrial force arrived on the planet, overcame humanity's objections and essentially wiped out poverty and crime. But at what cost? Focusing on one Chicago neighbourhood, the story will follow various people, some who are happy to collaborate with the mysterious (thus far) alien "legislature" and those who want to fight back against them.

As per usual, there are the dark mutterings of those who suspect the aliens' motives might not be as healthy for our species as they suggest, and the symbol of a phoenix is being used to rally the resistance.

Vera Farmiga, John Goodman, James Ransone, Ashton Sanders and Alan Ruck are the among the cast here, with the movie itself due on 12 April.
