She won an Oscar this year and Patricia Arquette looks to be closing in on another dream of many actors: voicing a role in a Pixar film. The Boyhood actress is in talks for Toy Story 4.
John Lasseter is back directing this latest outing for the company’s venerable franchise, which is still largely wrapped in secrecy but which Lasseter has said will focus on a love story between Tom Hanks’ Woody and Annie Potts’ Bo Peep, with a hunt for the latter kicked off when she goes missing.
While there has been plenty of debate as to whether the world needs another Toy Story after the third film wrapped up the story well and the shorts/TV specials have been offering enough entertaining time with the gang in small doses, Lasseter and co. have always said that they would only revisit the world if they came up with a good idea, and the “brain trust” of original directors have landed on one. Trust members Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich and Andrew Stanton developed the story before handing it to Rashida Jones and Will McCormack to write the script. Toy Story 4 is taking aim at a June 15, 2018 Stateside release, but doesn’t have a confirmed playdate with UK cinemas yet.
We’d predict that most of the voice cast will be back, and Arquette, according to The Wrap, is circling the role of a hippie mother. She’s normally found investigating web crimes on US TV’s CSI: Cyber and is also voicing a character in a CG ‘toon called Troll. She’s most recently been part of the team working on equal rights documentary Equal Means Equal.
