Just a few days ago we wrote an article about the secret of Pixar's success, and in it we mentioned how they're taking over Tinseltown, consulting on films like Tron Legacy as well as making their own perfectly-crafted stories. Well, now they're consulting on the new Muppet movie as well, with the news that its filmmakers apparently flew to Pixar's Emeryville headquarters to give the Pixar brain trust a taste of what they're working on.
The story is that there was a table read of the new film, which is set to star Jason Segel - who's also writing it - for the likes of Pete Docter (a huge Muppets fan), Brad Bird, Michael Arndt and Ed Catmull.
Frankly, whether the script was in bad shape or not we're inclined to say that this can only be a good thing. After all, if this is another Muppet story about saving a theatre that's about to be bought out and demolished by an oil tycoon, we're going to need something* ***fresh to get people interested, and if anyone has an idea what that could be, the Pixar bods would seem like a good guess - right?
The film's currently due out for Christmas 2011, so keep eyes peeled for more news on it during the next few months.
