A new take from Twilight team Summit

Pitt Producing Dracula Movie Vlad

Given that vampires have earned the company one or two pennies in the last couple of years, it's hardly surprising that Summit Entertainment would be looking to stick with the creatures of the night (or the day, in the Twilight gang's case). But for its next trip to bloodsucker central, the subject matter is somewhat more traditional: Dracula, with Brad Pitt's production company helping to keep the blood flowing.

Don't go expecting it to be all capes and fangs just yet, though. Vlad, a script written by actor Charlie Hunnam (of Green Street and now TV's Sons Of Anarchy) is the focus, with music video man Anthony Mandler aiming to direct.

Vlad will explore Drac as a young prince, plundering the history of Vlad the impaler, the man behind the myth.

Summit apparently nabbed the rights to the script a while ago, but has been keeping it in a development dungeon until Mandler, who has worked with the likes of Rhianna and Eminem, toddled along with his showreel.

Now the hope is, according to Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog, to produce a "visually edgy and radical period movie". 300 with more teeth, anyone?
