Pitt Embarks On Odyssey

He's already done Troy, but now Brad Pitt is tackling Homer once again, with the news that he's set to produce, and hopefully star in, a new take on The Odyssey, along with director George Miller and Warner Bros.

But don't expect to see Pitt back in those fetching breastplates and leather skirts he wore in Troy - this is a futuristic, outer space take on The Odyssey, which (for those of you who skipped classics) is the Greek epic of how Odysseus took ten years to get home from the Trojan War, thanks to assorted gods, witches, inclement weather and really bad traffic on the Mediterranean between Asia Minor and his home of Ithaca. There's no word yet on what sort of space spin this Odyssey will be getting, but we're hoping for something pretty much exactly like this{ =nofollow}. It could also mark a welcome return to futuristic insanity for Mad Max director George Miller.

That all said, don't start holding your breath for this just yet - Pitt still has publicity work to do on David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, some bits to finish on Terence Malick's Tree of Life and has just started shooting on Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Jeez, Brad, talk about hogging all the good directors. No wonder Pauly Shore never gets any work.
