Fresh from bringing you the best of the movie world every month, the team behind Empire magazine is launching a new publication that’s all about the golden age of cinematic television. Pilot TV is your glossy guide to the best of the box (because, well, in the age of streaming and box-sets it’s impossible to watch everything), bringing major exclusives and expert insight direct to readers.
The magazine, which hits the shelves on Thursday 5 April, includes a guide to the very best shows out right now that you’ll want to watch, in-depth features focusing on the best new and returning series and the creators behind them, and deep dives into classic shows that helped shape the current TV landscape. Like Empire, it is edited by Terri White and created by the Empire team, alongside the likes of heat magazine’s Boyd Hilton, with input from Guardian columnist Julia Raeside, Michael Hogan, and plenty more TV experts.
Taking to the front page for the very first issue is Luke Cage, who’s back with a second season of hard-hitting super-powered street-level heroics in Harlem on Netflix this summer. Also inside is a major look at Westworld’s long-awaited return with on-set access, an in-depth interview with Six Feet Under and Dexter star Michael C. Hall, a first look at new Alan Partridge, a retrospective on the glory of The West Wing, Hugh Grant’s only interview for his upcoming BBC drama A Very English Scandal, and much, much more.
“Pilot TV is the first magazine of its kind, anywhere in the world: a magazine dedicated to the life-consuming world of cinematic TV,” says Editor-in-chief Terri White. “These are shows with the budget, scale, scope, production values, filmmaking talent and storytelling chops only previously found on the big screen. It’s a whole new world, and you’re not going to want to navigate it without us.“
Look out for the first issue of Pilot TV when it hits the newsstand on 5 April, priced £4.99. Find out more pilottvmag.com.
