Looks like we can knock one name off the list of actresses in contention for a role in Zack Snyder and producer Chris Nolan’s new Superman film: Rosamund Pike is now in negotiations for an entirely different tale of superpowers and adventure, the sequel to Clash Of The Titans.

The film, which may or may not still be called Wrath Of The Titans, is set to begin shooting next month with **Battle: Los Angeles **director Jonathan Liebesman overseeing the chaos. And while some of the stars, including Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are returning to their roles, it looks like Warner Bros. has made a few changes. Edgar Ramirez is taking over the role of Ares and the studio is swapping out a booked-up Alexa Davalos, who played captured princess Andromeda, for Pike.

Pike got her big break in blockbuster territory with Die Another Day. Since then, she’s blended the odd studio sci-fi outing (Doom, Surrogates) with more heavyweight work such as in Pride & Prejudice, Atonement and An Education. She’s most recently cropped up in Made in Dagenham and as one of the women who captures Paul Giamatti’s heart in Barney’s Version, and will appear alongside Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English Reborn.

Hopefully there might be some actual Titans in this one, and we get the distinct feeling they’ll be engaged in wrathful behaviour (though if the title stays Wrath and they make the tagline “Titans Will Wrath”, we’re skipping it). It’ll be shot in proper 3D and is scheduled to hit cinemas next spring.
