Cannes may not be happening in the world at large this year, but the festival's market is still going ahead, albeit online. And one of the potential movies for sale will be Youth, which has Pierce Brosnan attached to star.
Brett Marty is adapting the sci-fi thriller from the short he co-wrote and directed in 2016. He's written the script alongside his colleagues from the short, Josh Izenberg and Amelia Whitcomb. Youth is set in the near future where "Renewal" is the hottest scientific offering, a procedure that can re-set your body's biological clock. Joel (Brosnan), is an engineer about to retire at the age of 70, but his company decides he's too valuable to lose and pays for he and his wife to undergo the Renewal process. Things go a little wrong when she returns as a 20-year-old, but Joel's procedure misfires and he starts to age rapidly.
We'll have to wait and see if this one is picked up, but given how much movie content companies will be needing, it has a good chance. You can watch the trailer for the original Youth short below.
