There has been so much written, reported and speculated about the troubled development of the still-unnamed Bond 25 that it's hard not to take new news without a healthy grain of salt. Set your expectations, accordingly, then, to word from The Observer that Fleabag and Killing Eve's Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been brought in to polish the script.

Carefully framing its story as from "sources", the paper has heard that Daniel Craig – reportedly a fan of Waller-Bridge's work like so many of us – had discussions with her about the writer/producer/actor bringing her trademark smart wit and quirk to the new Bond script, which has seen work from veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, with Scott Z. Burns reportedly recruited by current director Cary Fukunaga to re-write it. Waller-Bridge certainly seems like an interesting choice, and, along with her fellow writers, certainly brought something fresh to the spy genre with Eve. A female perspective and alternate voice could be just what Bond needs, assuming this all pans out.

The aim is to have the new movie shooting soon, so as not to miss another release date, currently scheduled for April next year.
