Emotionally driven time travel tales crop up every once in a while, almost as if the genre was unstuck in the continuum, much like Eric Bana in The Time Traveller’s Wife. The latest crack in space-time has disgorged the script Timeless, which Salt’s Phillip Noyce is now negotiating to direct.
Enchanted writer Bill Kelly hatched the plot, about a recently married man whose wife dies suddenly and unexpectedly. As he sorts through his grief, he discovers that she’s left him a fortune. But instead of going out and blowing the whole lot on hookers and booze in Vegas, he ploughs the money into research on a time machine so that he can travel back and see her one last time to resolve an issue that was left dangling by her death. Want to bet he won’t like all the answers he finds?
Noyce isn’t locked, though according to Deadline, he’s definitely begun the process of coming aboard, hammering out a deal to step behind the camera. Relativity Media has nabbed the project and will be drumming up some financing while it looks for likely actors…
