The first trailer for the live-action/CG blended Peter Rabbit film was met with, to put it in charitable terms, a mixed response. So this new look at the movie has a task to convince us all that it could actually work. Take a gander and see if it can win you over...

Adapted – very loosely, by the looks, with plenty of additional plot crammed in – from the story by Beatrix Potter, we find mischievous central rabbit Peter (James Corden) happily exploring and empty country house he considers his and his animal friends' territory. But when the place is acquired by the moody Mr. McGregor – who happens to be an exterminator here, letting Domhnall Gleeson channel his inner Hux – the stage is set for a clash of cultures. And for McGregor to catch the eye of the animal-loving Bea (Rose Byrne).

Will Gluck marshals the madness here, ramping up the action for more wackiness than Potter ever put in her work. It's definitely not aiming for the same level of comfy warmth as, say, Paddington. And let's not even talk about how high a bar the bear's two adventures set for family films...

With Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki also in the voice cast, Peter Rabbit will race on to UK screens on 16 March.
