The reviews for the first Peter Rabbit may have been mixed, but $350 million worldwide buys a lot of carrots and sees the green light flash for a sequel. Hence the impending arrival (well, next year) of Peter Rabbit 2. The first trailer for the film is online and can be viewed below.
As the story continues, Bea (Rose Byrne), Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson) and the rabbits have formed a makeshift family, with the humans tying the knot. Yet Peter (James Corden) just can't seem to shake his mischievous reputation. Feeling like he doesn't fit in, he heads out on an adventure and finds a group that appreciate his behaviour. But when his family risks everything to find him, Peter must figure out what kind of bunny he wants to be.
There are moments here that suggest the the sequel could be venturing down darker paths a la Babe: Pig In The City, but it's mostly focused on fluffy family fun.
Will Gluck is back in the director's chair, while Elizabeth Debicki, Margot Robbie, and Daisy Ridley return as Peter's sisters. David Oyelowo, Dalip Sondhi and Neveen Hanna are new additions. Peter Rabbit 2 (known in the US as Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway) will scamper into UK cinemas on 27 March.
