Peter Dinklage has played some intriguing characters in his time, but it appears he's looking to get crazier for a new role. He's locking in a deal to play the main character in Legendary's long-simmering reboot of The Toxic Avenger.
Macon Blair, who made his directorial debut with I don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore, has been on board to write and direct an update of Troma's 1984 schlock classic since March. The original film follows struggling everyman janitor Melvin, who is pushed into a vat of toxic waste. He's transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends and his community from the forces of corruption and greed. Spoofing superhero tropes, it became a flagship brand for low budget studio Troma, spawning sequels, a stage musical, a comic and a kids' cartoon series.
This marks another project that Blair and Dinklage are looking to work on together – the actor is also attached to Blair's comedy Brothers.
