Peter Dinklage, last seen on the big screen amid the mutants of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, is headed into more naturalistic territory for a new film role. He’s set to star in the adaptation of Joe Lansdale’s crime thriller tome T**he Thicket.

There’s no director attached yet, but 300: Rise Of An Empire producer Gianni Nunnari is producing alongside Dinklage and his manager. Lansdale’s story is set in the wilds of East Texas during the early 20th century.

Our hero is an innocent man named Jack who must embark on a tough quest to rescue his sister from the clutches of a violent killer named Cutthroat Bill. Jack recruits the help of quick-witted bounty hunter Shorty (Dinklage), an alcoholic who moonlights as a gravedigger. Together the pair must venture into the dangerous territory known as The Big Thicket, where laws no longer apply.

“That Joe Lansdale’s dark vision will be brought to life by the brilliantly talented Peter Dinklage starring as Shorty – it is a dream of mine,” says Nunnari in a statement picked up by Variety. “This is the kind of original movie with edge and style that Hollywood Gang is hungry for; luckily we found all these things in The Thicket. We cannot wait to share this movie with audiences around the world.”

Dinklage will next be seen in Adam Sandler’s action comedy, Pixels, due out on August 21 next year. He will also return for the new season of Game Of Thrones, which is back on TV next April.
