Harold Perrineau – formerly of the Lost parish – has become the latest cast member to sign on to Nic Cage’s vigilante thriller, the wonderfully-named Hungry Rabbit Jumps.
Cage will play a high school chemistry teacher who joins an underground vigilante movement after his wife is brutally victimised. Perrineau – whose most memorable film work has included William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, the two Matrix sequels and The Edge – will play Cage’s principal, an ex-cop who finds himself torn between his friend and his duties to society.
Roger Donaldson is directing the $30 million film, which also stars Guy Pearce and January Jones and which is competing with Cage’s 3D car chase movie, Drive Angry and Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass for Best Title Of Any Film, Not Just Ones Starring Nic Cage, In 2010.
Tobey Maguire is producing, but not acting. Filming is happening even as you read this.
