Though the return of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter in her own TV series has been public knowledge for a long time now, Marvel is not going to make us wait to see her again. US network ABC has announced that Atwell will appear in the first episode of the new season of Agents Of SHIELD{
The episode, called Shadows, finds Clark Gregg's Coulson and the gang – **Spoiler alert – **trying to rebuild SHIELD after the calamitous events of last season and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Quite how Carter will appear has yet to be revealed, but we’d guess there will be a flashback to her heyday, the better to establish the world of her own show.
With the SHIELD team now essentially fugitives, the second run of the show will hopefully maintain the quality uptick that the series went through late last season. Among those scheduled to crop up as guests are Lucy Lawless as Isabelle “Izzy” Hartley, Kyle MacLachlan as the mysterious father of Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Adrian Palicki as Mockingbird, a popular figure from the comics. Returning players include Patton Oswalt as Billy Koenig and B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, who will hopefully stick with the team for now.
Agents Of SHIELD returns to US airwaves on September 23, and should return to Channel 4 here shortly after that; Agent Carter will air during the show’s planned seasonal break.
