Telly comedy types jump to films

It’s unusual for the entire team of a TV show – particularly a British one – to make the leap to movies at once. Normally that only happens when you have people who enjoy working together, like Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost.

And now the Peep Show creative bods are making the jump as a unit – actors Robert Webb and David Mitchell will star in Magicians for Universal, which will be directed by the show’s regular helmer Andrew O’Conner and penned by the Peep writers, Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain.

The Prestige-like plot (but, y'know, probably a lot funnier) involves a pair of magic performers (Webb and Mitchell, we're pretty sure) who are in the middle of a massive feud that follows when their double act collapses in an onstage disaster.

With Juliet Stevenson and Peter Capaldi also aboard, the film starts cranking cameras in the UK this month.
