Guy Pearce and Mary-Louise Parker have signed up for The Well, a new psychological drama that newcomer Tim Guinee is writing and directing, and which Philip Seymour Hoffman is producing.

Announced at Sundance, where Hoffman's directorial debut Jack Goes Boating is doing the rounds, the film will see Pearce and Parker play a well-to-do New York couple "whose obsessive pursuit of salvation ultimately leads to destruction". More than that has not been revealed as yet - we'd speculate, however, that either pursuit of financial security or some odd religion brings them low.

Tim Guinee, who's written the script and will make his feature directing debut on the film, is best known as an actor - he's appeared in virtually every TV series going, as well as Ladder 49, Iron Man (and the upcoming sequel, as Major Allen) and Blade. The film still has to secure financing, but keep an eye out for this one moving forward.
