Grab your flat caps, lads – Peaky Blinders is back, now in movie-length form. And befitting the leap from the small screen to the, erm, well, small screen just with a longer runtime (this one’s a Netflix production), the feature film is gathering some major names. It wouldn’t be Peaky without Cillian Murphy, who is of course back as Tommy Shelby – and we recently learned, too, that Rebecca Ferguson would be entering the fray this time. (She’ll be seriously deadly with a razor-tipped hat.) And now there’s another big name officially on board: Barry Keoghan has entered the game.

Yes, the Saltburn, Banshees Of Inisherin, and Eternals star has been confirmed as the latest addition to the Peaky movie, for which most details are currently scarce. We know it’ll be directed by Tom Harper, who previously helmed episodes of the show way back on Season 1, with a script from series creator Steven Knight. And… that’s about it so far. It’s expected to take place during – or, in the wake of – the events of World War II, but an official synopsis is yet to be unveiled. We just know that cameras are expected to begin rolling before the end of 2024.

Either way, Keoghan is a fascinating addition to the cast – one of the biggest rising stars of recent years, who’s worked with some of the greatest directors around (Christopher Nolan! Matt Reeves! Yorgos Lanthimos! Chloé Zhao! Martin McDonagh! Emerald Fennell!) and has already racked up a seriously stacked set of credits. While Peaky is something of a worldwide phenomenon, the arrival of stars like Keoghan (and Ferguson) is further proof that the feature film is planning to push its star quotient even higher. Stay tuned to see if it lives up to the original show.
