Pawel Pawlikowski is best known for directing improvised, arty fare such as Last Resort and My Summer Of Love.

He’s currently hard at work filming an adaptation of Magnus Mills’ novel The Restraint Of Beasts, which nearly won the Booker prize.

And he hopes to crack America with a Booker winner, DBC

Pierre’s quirky comedy Vernon God Little, about a 15-year-old Texas kid who is made the scapegoat for a high-school slaughter.

He’s just grabbed support from Jack Black and Mike White’s production company, Black & White productions, who will help both financially and creatively. Pawlikowski has already been developing the book with producers Aimee Peyronnet and Tanya Seghatchian, but now two US scribes, Abdi Nazemian and Micah Schraft will help him craft the script. There’s no casting information yet, but the director hopes to start shooting early next year.
