Paul Rudd has clearly been asked if he believes in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis, because he's agreed to join the new Ghostbusters film that Jason Reitman is gearing up to make. Oh, and there's probably a steady pay cheque in it.

Announced via a Twitter video that Rudd himself shot outside the fire station used in the original films, it also mentions that he'll be shooting in the autumn.

The first direct sequel to both the 1984 movie and its 1989 sequel is in the works right now, though a lot about it remains under wraps. We do know it has connective tissue to both original films in terms of story, and that at least some of the classic cast will show up on screen, including Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, with Sigourney Weaver also confirming that she'll be on screen.

The focus, though, looks to be new cast members, including Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace, in the story of someone who has a link to the 'busters history.

Reitman wrote the script with Gil Kenan and the film is scheduled to arrive on 10 July next year.
