We can’t speak to how good a brother Paul Rudd is in real life{
Jesse Peretz, who last worked with Rudd on 2001’s** The Chateau**, is behind the camera for the indie comedy, which has the actor dealing with an overbearing mother and sisters who just don’t understand his free-wheeling, endlessly positive ways.
But when he’s forced to crash at their various houses, he wreaks havoc while also making them realise he has a point. Yes, we’re not sure about the basic synopsis either, but it’s been developed by Anthony Bregman, who helped get Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind made.
"Everyone on Earth who has a brother has an idiot brother," Bregman tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I come from a family of three brothers, so I know that better than anyone. And what could beat the prospect of working with Jesse and Paul, who are like brothers to each other to bring that message out into the world?"
Peretz’ sister, Evgenia, wrote the script and the film should film next month in July, once the roles of the sisters and mother have been filled.
Rudd fans, meanwhile, will be able to get their fix with Dinner For Schmucks on August 20 (in which he co-stars with Steve Carell), while his collaboration with James L Brooks, How Do You Know, arrives next January.
