Paul Newman announced on the David Letterman show that he's thinking of giving up his acting career for good. The legendary blue-eyed star of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Hustler told the chat show host he's going to "try and do one more film and then get out."
Newman, who is 75, has hardly set screens alight lately. His last film, Message in a Bottle wasn't a critical or commercial hit, and the actor has had more recent success with his Newman's Own food range. He told Letterman, "It out-grosses my films, which is humiliating." Newman's last film appearance may well see him re-uniting with Robert Redford, or with his wife Joanne Woodward.
