We have to caution you up front on this one: despite the presence of the name in the title this is not – at least as far as anyone knows at this point – a sequel to the Crocodile Dundee franchise. But star Paul Hogan is taking the lead in The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee!

Sounding a little along the lines of the Van Damme-self-spoofing JCVD, Dundee! finds Hogan playing himself as on the brink of receiving a knighthood for services to comedy. Despite a warning from his manager not to mess things up, his name and reputation spiral into chaos. This comes on the heels of Hogan appearing in the fake trailer for a Danny McBride-starring son-of-Dundee film that turned out to be a tourist ad for Australia. Let's hope fans don't feel burned by this one.

With Dean Murphy in the director's chair, the film will shoot in Australia, Los Angeles and Vancouver starting next month. Hogan has already teased that he'll have some interesting co-stars, saying, "I’ve been honored to have many of my friends and colleagues, whose work I adore, agree to join us for this hilarious new adventure." Ooh! Can it be Charlie the Buffalo from the original Crocodile Dundee and its first sequel? That guy was great! Hang on, we're getting a call from the year 2000... He's dead? And is now a stuffed attraction at an outback pub? Buffa-nooo! Charlie!
