While many directors are content to stay completely schtum about all the little details of their movies before they hit the screen, some are willing to share a few bits and pieces. Paul Feig is taking the latter approach to Ghostbusters, responding to fans and tweeting imagery from the movie. In his latest tweet, he reveals the names of the main characters as played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Okay, here you go. Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Abby Yates and Patty Tolan. Now you know even more. > > — Paul Feig (@paulfeig) [July 18, 2015](https://twitter.com/paulfeig/status/622543519752790016)

With the presence of set photos already on the web (including an official portrait of the main foursome), speculation had turned to their character names, so now we know that Wiig is Gilbert, McCarthy is Yates, McKinnon Holtzmann and Jones Tolan.

The basic story, written by the director and The Heat’s Katie Dippold finds Wiig and McCarthy as a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University. Which is great, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan.

Chris Hemsworth is on to play the assistant to the spirit-chasing team, which will expand to include McKinnon and Jones. Recent additions to the cast also include Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh, Michael K. Williams and Neil Casey. Ghostbusters is set for release on July 22 next year.
