Steven Spielberg continues to put the cast together for his next film – one that will be based on his own childhood, albeit fictionalised. The latest choice for a role? Paul Dano, who will play a version of the director's father, Arnold.
This new film, which Spielberg wrote with Tony Kushner, is loosely inspired by the director's youth in Arizona across the late 1950s and early 1960s. The characters won't be duplicates of Spielberg and his relatives, but they will share some similarities. He's also planning to fill the ensemble with young actors of different ages, including a role inspired by the filmmaker (no pressure there, young performers!)
Michelle Williams is playing a version of his mother, while Seth Rogen will be portraying a take on his favourite uncle. The cameras will be rolling this year for a planned 2022 release date.
