Paul Dano, who did great work in There Will Be Blood and was cruelly denied an Oscar nomination, has lined up a new project to both star in and produce. He'll play the male lead opposite Zooey Deschanel in Gigantic, a romantic comedy by first time director Matt Aselton.
Written by Aselton and Adam Nagata, the story hangs on a romance between a mattress salesman and a woman he meets in his shop. That's exactly the kind of set-up you imagine when you think Dano and Deschanel in a romantic comedy. It's a little weird and doesn't sound that exciting, but has the potential for huge amounts of charm.
After completing Gigantic in New York, Dano will go on to play opposite Brian Cox in The Good Heart, in which he'll play a homeless man who becomes the protege of Cox's grumpy barman. So, like Cocktail with worse teeth?
