Paul Dano is currently to be found on our screens as one of the title characters in Looper. And this week, he’ll romance real-life girlfriend Zoe Kazan in Ruby Sparks. But the actor is also making plans for a future film, snagging a role in Alcon Entertainment’s Prisoners.

The film, which Denis Villeneuve is setting up to direct, finds Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo in the tale of a small-town carpenter (Jackman) whose daughter is kidnapped along with her best friend.

When the cops fail to find them, Jackman decides to take matters into his own hands but finds himself at odds with the detective (Gyllenhaal), who has been assigned to the case.

There’s no indication yet which role Dano will play, but it’s possible he could be the kidnapper.

Aaron Guzikowski wrote the script for the film, which is scheduled to start shooting early next year ready for an autumn release. In addition to Looper and Sparks, Dano has a role in Steve McQueen’s latest film, Twelve Years A Slave. That one will arrive next year.
