There has been a lot of talk of late about the future (or lack thereof) for Patty Jenkins' take on Wonder Woman. It has all come from trade mags and their sources, but now Jenkins has commented directly on twitter about the situation, addressing the reporting that she walked away from a third film after her latest treatment was rejected by Warner Bros. bosses.
In the statement, Jenkins clarifies that she was actually open to considering anything asked of her and that it was her understanding that there was nothing she could do to move anything forward. "DC," she writes, "is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now." You can read the entire statement below.
The news comes in the wake of James Gunn and Peter Safran taking on leadership roles at DC Studios (though they didn't directly contact Jenkins, they did reportedly decide that her plans for the third Wonder Woman didn't fit with their future plans).
While it's obviously disappointing for fans of Jenkins' take on Diana Prince, it does strike a hopeful — if realistic – note on her planned Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, whose forward movement was a casualty of development on Wonder Woman 3. Perhaps this means we might finally see the squadron launch?
