Look kids: stealing is bad, mmkay? Even if famous people indulge in it. But Patrick Wilson and Alec Baldwin will be indulging for purely cinematic reasons as they’re snatching the lead roles in noir thriller Caught Stealing.
Watchmen / X2 writer David Hayter has adapted the script from Charlie Huston’s book, the first in his Henry Thompson trilogy.
Wilson is set to be Hank Thompson, a former baseball prodigy whose career flamed out and saw him end up as an alcoholic bum of a bartender who is mistakenly swept up in a bloody treasure hunt through New York. Hank’s neighbour deposits a cat in his apartment, and this moggy has a secret tied to Samoan hit men, Russian mobsters, psycho brothers with a predilection for leather outfits and a sadistic cop (Baldwin).
"**Caught Stealing **is, first and foremost, a great script," producer Kirk D'Amico tells the Hollywood Reporter. "It is a wrong-man plot worthy of Hitchcock and a brilliant adaption of the first book of the Henry Thompson trilogy. I look forward to seeing the story come to life on screen."
There’s no director attached yet, but the various companies backing this one are already on the hunt.
