Parker Posey Talks Broken English

The family that brought you John and Nick Cassavetes has spawned another movie making talent. Zoe Cassavetes is making her film debut with Broken English. And she’s assembled quite a cast.

Parker Posey, Drea DeMatteo, Jeanne Moreau, Justin Theroux and Josh Hamilton will all star, alongside Gena Rowlands (AKA Zoe’s mum) in the tale of Nora (Posey) a business-savvy New Yorker with a spectacularly bad love life. But all that changes when she meets a Frenchman (Melvil Poupaud) who brings romance into her life. She decides to relocate to Paris and work as a courier with her best friend, Audrey (DeMatteo).

The film is the next project by HDNet Films, which releases movies in the States on DVD and TV at the same time as in cinemas. And they’re obviously quite pleased with their own ability to make things happen: "With the cast assembled, they needed someone who could pull the trigger on production in three weeks," HDNet co-president Jason Kliot told The Hollywood Reporter. "The great thing about our company is that we have in-house legal and all the financing from Mark (Cuban) and Todd (Wagner), so we had all the papers signed and the film going within a week." Well, aren’t you the clever ones? Swots.
