Looking to escape the shadow of the mis-firing 1998 big screen attempt, Lost In Space and its galactic castaway Robinson family are headed back to TV in a new reboot series from Legendary TV and Netflix. Parker Posey is the latest recruit, on board as Dr. Smith.

Assuming she channels the scheming side brought out by Jonathan Harris in the original (and Gary Oldman in the film), she'll be a thorn in the side of the Robinson family, stranded lightyears away from their intended destination. The explorers will have to contend with strange new alien environments and their own dysfunction.

Toby Stephens is playing John Robinson, while Molly Parker has the role of wife and fellow explorer Maureen. Taylor Russell's on as eldest daughter Judy and Maxwell Jenkins is curious younger son Will. With Neil Marshall in the director's chair to kick things off, the show is aiming to hit Netflix in 2018.

Posey last appeared in Mascots and has comedy The Brits Are Coming and drama Columbus due next year.
