Paranormal Activity 2 Non-Update

Recently revealed as one of several surprising names in the potential-director hat for Paranoramal Activity 2, Akiva Goldsman is now officially out of the running. The writer of the Dan Brown movies and Batman and Robin will not be behind the camera on the least called-for sequel of the year, but will be involved as executive producer.

The film, of course, had a director in Kevin Greutert, and then lost him when he was pulled back to Saw VII under contractual obligation. So Paranormal Activity 2 now has Goldsman, original writer / director Oren Peli, producers Jason Blum and Steven Schneider, and original star Micah Sloat all involved in some capacity, but still nobody to actually captain the ship.

Production is scheduled to start in May, and the release date of October 22nd is already set in studio stone, so this should change shortly. Paramount are still sitting pensively by the phone waiting for Brian De Palma to call.*
