Paramount has nabbed Matt Nix’ pitch The Game Of Sunken Places, based on MT Anderson’s kids’ book.

The plot finds two boys who learn that the housing development where they make their home is actually a gigantic game, with the shady developer part of a ghostly race that is testing humanity’s worth. Sounds like Jumanji meets classic Star Trek, if you ask us.

"The title has been floating around, but when Matt came in and pitched it, I loved it," producer Jason Blum told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's hard to find big, smart action ideas, and Matt's a great writer, and I know he'll deliver us close to a shootable script. Close to a finished script? What’s he doing? Leaving out the punctuation?
